Q1: Why did you choose this role?
PD: Well, I think, if I had read the script without anyone else involved, I would have been super excited about it, you know the relationship between the father and son, and I think it's a great part. But the fact that it's based on this memoir that I heard about and that Robert De Niro was going to play the father part and Paul Weitz (Director/Writer) was going to direct it, you know. I definitely jumped at the opportunity; it was easy to get excited about. And also I lived in New York and we were going to set the film in New York and it was immediately clear how much sort of great work there was to do for the character out in the world. And then also just the psychology of what he has to go through is sort of a great playing field for an actor. Because I think he has a nice journey and really has to battle some demons in the film and so that's exc...
